Fabricator Seeking Pay for Veterans Affairs Clinic work
CROWN POINT, IN -- 01/21/2012 -- The head of an Indiana steel fabricating company wants answers from an Ohio-based developer and general contractor after doing work on a new Crown Point outpatient clinic for veterans. Robert Scott, president of Scott Steel Services Inc. in Crown Point, said his firm filed a mechanic's lien Oct. 28 on the Adam Benjamin Jr. Veterans Affairs Outpatient Clinic. Although the new building opened in September, Scott said the developer, Crown Point VA Co. LLC, owes his family-owned steel fabrication firm more than $133,000. Read more...

Schuff Steel Expands Fabrication and Erection Services to New York
MURRAY HILL, NJ -- 01/16/2012 -- Schuff Steel Company, a subsidiary of Schuff International, Inc., a family of companies providing fully integrated steel construction services, is now offering their steel fabrication and erection expertise to the metropolitan New York construction market. In December, the company opened a sales and management office in Murray Hill, New Jersey dedicated to servicing this region.

Schuff International Repurchases 5.6 Million Shares
PHOENIX, Dec 29, 2011 -- Schuff International, Inc., a family of companies providing fully integrated steel construction services, today announced it has repurchased approximately 5.6 million shares of its common stock from its majority stockholders, Plainfield Direct LLC ("Plainfield") and D. E. Shaw group ("Shaw"), at a negotiated price of $13.25 per share. As a result of the transaction, Plainfield and Shaw no longer hold any shares of common stock of Schuff International. Schuff International also announced that Marc Sole, designee of Plainfield, and Seth Charnow of Shaw will leave the company's Board of Directors, effective immediately.

Trimble to Acquire StruCad Business From AceCad
SUNNYVALE, Calif., Dec. 22, 2011 -- Trimble announced that it has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire the StruCad and StruEngineer business from AceCad Software to expand its construction solutions. The addition of the software products is expected to extend Tekla's industry leading Building Information Modeling (BIM) solutions for structural steel contractors to automate project estimating and management, modeling and detailing. The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2012.
